Journal of Politics and Islamic Society (JPIS), published twice a year, is a peer-reviewed journal specializing in the study of politics and Muslim societies in Indonesia. The aim is to provide readers with a deeper understanding of the relationship between politics and Indonesian Muslim society through the publication of original research articles, research reports, and book reviews.
Journal of Politics and Islamic Society (JPIS) welcomes scholars and experts working both theoretical and empirical contributions in the following fields: 1) Political theories and ideologies in Muslim contexts, 2) Islam, democracy, and governance, 3) Political behavior, participation, and social movements in Islamic societies, 4) Policy studies and public administration in Muslim-majority countries, 5) Comparative politics of Muslim societies, 6) Religion, identity, and socio-political change. All manuscripts submitted to JPIS undergo an initial editorial screening, followed by a double-blind peer review process involving at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.
- Articles should be written between approximately 6.000-8.000 words including text, all tables and figures, notes, references, and appendices intended for publication.
- All submissions must include 150 words abstract and 5 keywords.
- JPIS accepts only electronic submissions. Therefore, authors must log in before submitting their articles. Please click here to log in.
- Co-authorship: the journal limit number of co-authorsip maximum five persons.
- Local and non-Bahasa words should be written italic. Arabic words should follow the JPIS Arabic transliteration guideline.
- A citation usually requires only the last name of the author(s), year of publication, and (sometimes) page numbers. For example: (Mujani 2018a, 45; Norris 2014, 114). Explanatory footnotes may be included but should not be used for simple citations.
- All works cited must appear in the reference list at the end of the article. For bibliographical style, authors are advised to use reference management applications such as Mendeley or Zotero, and select the American Political Science Association (APSA) citation style.
All articles must be submitted through the online submission system at https://journal.uinjkt.ac.id/index.php/jpis/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions.
